about

“Electric Bird Digest” came out when I was a sophomore in college at the peak of my show-going years, and Young Fresh Fellows must have been on the bill for at least half of those shows. As an awestruck teenager, one thing I’ll always remember is seeing Scott and the rest of the band in the crowd watching the other bands instead of hiding out in the green room or down the street at some other bar killing time until their set. That may not seem like a big deal but it’s not that common, and for little bands like ours who open shows while half the audience sits in the café waiting for the headliner, it means a lot. And when UF finally got a chance to play a show with the Fellows a few years ago, they were, of course, on the floor watching our opening set. You take your cues from your idols, and I was lucky enough to grow up in the scene watching these guys. -Charles
